iSchoolers in the News

We wrote about four MSIM students who interned at interesting places over the summer. Srijan Bhushan got a chance to intern at Tesla Motors, Nelson Dsouza at Visa, Karthika Sundaresan at PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Sam Pattnaik at IBM. All of them found that their classes had them ready to contribute right away.

Several iSchoolers were featured speakers at events this week. Professor Michelle Martin was part of the UW Ethnic Cultural Center’s Fall Faculty Spotlight panel on Monday; Ph.D. student Ivette Bayo Urban was part of the lineup at TEDxSnoIsleLibraries on Friday; and MLIS student Ashley Farley gave a lightning talk as part of the UW Scholars Studio event on open access and equity in science.

Assistant Professor Jevin West was quoted in a Reuters story on how academic collaboration differs by gender. Women have a wider range of collaborators than men, but are still significantly underrepresented, according to a study led by Northwestern University.
