Assistant Professor Jevin West and Biology Professor Carl Bergstrom are getting some attention for their proposed course, “Calling Bullshit in the Age of Big Data.” They’ve released a syllabus in the hope that they’ll be able to go forward with the class. Nancy Pearl, famed librarian and part-time lecturer at the iSchool gave NPR listeners a reading list for the new year. She listed six books she feels should be getting more attention.

Marcie Stone, a member of the MLIS Advisory Board and fervent supporter of the iSchool, shared her memories of Larry Brandt, an early visionary of what the internet would become.

Associate Professor Bill Howe launched a new project he’s directing, Urbanalytics, an effort to use data science responsibly to promote better urban living. Check out the project website.
