iSchoolers in the News
Associate Professor Jacob Wobbrock was named this year’s recipient of the SIGCHI Social Impact Award. The prestigious honor is awarded annually to an individual who promotes the application of human-computer interaction to meet social needs.
Associate Professor Bill Howe is passionate about data science and about improving urban areas. We wrote about his new project, UrbAnalytics, which gives him a chance to combine both.
Informatics student James Porter is excelling in school, in his fraternity, and in the boxing ring. We wrote about Porter and how an iSchool scholarship is helping him balance all of it.
Rachel Ivy Clarke, who earned her Ph.D. at the iSchool in 2016, won this year’s Doctoral Dissertation Award from the international iSchools organization. Clarke is now an assistant professor at Syracuse University.
Stat News is among the latest to cover Assistant Professor Jevin West’s new course, “Calling Bullshit in the Age of Big Data.” “We just struck a nerve,” West told the online publication.
