We have a little catching up to do after this snowy week. Here’s what iSchoolers have been up to.
iSchoolers in the News
Several iSchool faculty, students and alumni were involved in the American Library Association Midwinter conference in Seattle. Among them:
- Dean Emeritus Harry Bruce led a panel discussion on leadership for the future of libraries. Among the panelists were iSchool faculty and friends Rolf Hapel, Susan Hildreth, Cindy Aden, Lisa Rosenblum, Brian Bannon and Marcellus Turner. Also covered that same story, iSchool Ph.D. candidate J. Elizabeth Mills and Senior Lecturer Helene Williams were part of a panel on design thinking led by Ph.D. alumna Rachel Ivy Clarke.
- Associate Professor Joe Janes was one of the “podcast pros” on an ALA panel presented by American Libraries magazine.
Professor Jacob Wobbrock was quoted in a Washington Post story on the lost art of spelling.
Lecturer Annie Searle was part of a panel on systemic risk, one in a series of discussions on cybersecurity. The panelists talked about things that keep experts up at night, such as hackers and ransomware attacks.
